Business Plan

The Company operates its business in accordance with a vision "To be an Insurance Company of Sustainability" by using the first phase of the roadmap being "Transforming Tomorrow" and the latter phase of the roadmap being "Sustainable Tomorrow". The company has transformed all aspects of business operations by defining business purpose as “To be the Life and Financial Solution Provider in every life stage, life event and life style of customers in order to meet diverse customer demands”. To achieve the company vision, we have implemented business strategies as follows:

Sustainable Development Plan
  • The Company operates with the Sustainable Development Goals which developed under the “Sustainable Development Master Plan” by covering the ESG dimensions including the 'Promise', the 'Protect', and the ‘Prosper' Strategies. The Company strives for the technology and digital innovation to integrate with the governance, social and environment which are the key factors in creating value and driving the strong sustainable growth for the Company and stakeholders. This will lead the organization “To be an insurance company of sustainability" as the vision stated. 
  • On 15 Sep 2022, the Company appointed the Sustainable Development Committee to supervise the sustainable development guidelines as stipulated in the Company's vision. The Committee's roles and responsibilities include setting the direction, and performance indicators to drive the sustainable culture and give disclosure as required by the national and international standards.

Business Highlight

The Company is the first largest life insurance company in Thailand which owned and operated by Thai nationals with history of more than 80 years based on premiums in 2022 from TLAA. Thai Life's brand is successfully developed to be the top insurance providers with the vision “To be an insurance company of sustainability".

Performance and Analysis
Business Performance Summary
  • Investment returns increased by 325 MB mainly due to higher interest and dividend incomes from the growth in investment portfolio and IPO proceeds.
  • Premium revenue generated from the new business policies was 18,899 MB, increased by 1,197 MB or 6.76% compared to the last year.
  • Medical claims increased by 1,421 MB mainly due to higher claims relating to COVID-19 in early half of this year before the situation improved which leads to continuously decline in claims. However, there was higher seasonality claims in rainy season in the second half of this year.
  • There was the reversal of expected credit loss (ECL) in 2022 of 361 MB to reflect the improvement in credit risk.
  • On 21 July 2022, the Company received proceeds from the new issuance shares of 850,000,000 shares at Baht 16 per share which further strengthen our capital. 
Key Milestones
  • Being listed company in the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) on 25 July 2022 with security named “TLI”
  • Pursuing Digital Transformation in delivery of innovative e-Services such as e-Policyholder Guidebook and e-Payment that provide an online insurance premium payment through Thai Life application that can automate payment of insurance premiums via Online Direct Debit (ODD).
  • Expanding opportunities for Thai people of all levels to obtain affordable life and health insurance by developing a health insurance package that is light-hearted and affordable named "Thai Life Insurance Health Fit Bao Bao”.
  • Collaborating with Eisai (Thailand) Marketing Co., Ltd. to develop innovative care for Alzheimer, particularly those in the early stage and to educate Thai people understanding and preventing  Alzheimer and Dementia.
Risk Management Policy
  • The Company defines risk management as an important process in formulating strategies, planning, organizing, implementing, and controlling our business activities to minimize the adverse effects of accidental losses at a reasonable cost. The principle of risk management is to ensure that we manage risks appropriately to optimize the tradeoff between opportunities and adverse effects of the associated risks. In addition, risk management is aligned and complied with regulations.
  • We are committed to build financial strength through optimized profit, rather than maximized profit. By virtue of a viable and sustainable company, we strive to generate long term value for our stakeholders through risk management and by taking measured risks appropriately. The strong risk management practices are the key contributor that will allow us to accomplish our mission and business objectives.
